Goldline can trace its roots back to 1990 when the personnel behind the development of the application were engaged in analytical software development for logistics. These skills were employed to provide analytics of horse racing events. Mark Harniman, a qualified technical analyst is one of Goldline's main developers and founders. A keen horse racing enthusiast who has enjoyed success (and some major betting coups) as an owner of 20 horses with runners the Uk, France and Dubai. The Dorchester Plan and Selecta7 were early racing systems produced. Although profitable, horse racing as a vehicle for systematic profits in the late 90's had limited opportunity with activity constrained by bet sizes and limited value opportunities.
Around the same time, financial spread betting was just beginning to reach main stream. With much greater opportunities, virtually no constraints on bet sizes and a greater availability of data for analysis, work was undertaken on the first Goldline system.
The initial Goldline program was a trend trading system, seeking to ride short term trends across a number of stock indices. Highly geared with an aggressive staking plan, Goldline was positioned to take advantage of favourable trend moves and maximise returns by aggressive compounding.
Volatility is the enemy of short term trend traders. Markets became especially volatile in the middle part of 2000's which highlighted weaknesses in trend trading as a strategy and the staking plan employed. For a period our traders had a rough time of it and many members found the high drawdown's hard to take.
In response, and given the downturn in the economy and resistance
to risk, the decision was taken to stop marketing the Goldline
program and re-examine the whole process from the floor upwards.
Everything was re-examined ,re- analysed and re-evaluated. A
foreign investor, additional skill sets and methods were introduced
and as a result the all new Goldline program was introduced
in 2011.
Goldline today is in the enviable position of continuing to build
on 20 years of development, knowledge and real experience in
betting system development. This experience gained is shared
with a membership of active traders using the program. The new
Goldline program now works in a completely different way to previous
versions. It seeks to embrace volatility - instead of trend
trading it now holds trades for just one day. Other weakness
were addressed by expanding the program to trade a larger number
of non correlated and negatively correlated instruments such as
commodities and forex; falls in one market are compensated by gains
in another. The staking plan was also scrutinised, as a result the
program now takes a more cautious approach to risk. The ethos of
getting rich quick in the boom has been replaced by a more cautious
approach to money management. As a result Goldline has performed
incredibly well in current markets with the best success of 2011
coming in the most volatile months of August and September.
Goldline members pay an initial licence fee to acquire the program, and a small ongoing fee to allow the program to be supported and developed. All previous Goldline purchasers were invited to take delivery of the exciting 2011 update for just the cost of the years ongoing licence fee- no new purchase was necessary. Software vendors typically expect customers to re-buy new versions with each major development- The Goldline ethos is different: to always provide the very best of our work for all our members new and old, with each version or update always included in a small ongoing licence fee.
Trading is gambling - a speculative event outside your control-
by its very nature fraught with uncertainties as anyone who
is genuinely involved will tell you - but that is also why it's
exciting. Success doesn’t follow a straight path. Goldline attracts
it's critics in the tough times- (especially from forums and "experts" on
web sites offering "unbiased" advice- but which actually
operate with their own agendas and competitive offerings!) and we
are the first to admit we can't win every round. However all we
can be judged on is our trading account , our investment in our
product and our real members experiences. With trading accounts
restored and market beating trading returns in 2011 our members
look forward to more success in 2012!
